The ISAR Distinguished Career Award Sub-Committee invites nominations for the 2024 award with a deadline for receipt of applications of 6 September 2024. This award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the aeolian community through their research, communication, mentoring and development over their careers. Nominations of individuals from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged. From this year, the award will be given annually rather than being tied to the evolving timeline of the ICAR conference, but presentations will still occur in the subsequent conference. From next year we plan to expand the awards presented by ISAR including early career and publication awards – please get in touch via the community survey (link within this newsletter) if you have other suggestions or ideas and thanks for the comments we have already received.
Any member of ISAR may nominate one candidate annually and nominations should include: a nomination letter explaining the significance of the nominee’s contribution to aeolian science (1 page max); a biographical sketch including a list of the nominees most significant publications (2 pages max, to include total number and types of publications and citations); and three letters of support (each 1 page max). Unsuccessful nominations may be carried forward to a future round.
Please submit nominations by email to Jo Nield (J.Nield@soton.ac.uk), Chair of the ‘ISAR Distinguished Career Award Sub-Committee’. Previous award winners include:
